Let's Talk Fall

Let's just be honest. We live in Texas. It is 107 degrees outside until about October. It then drops to 80 degrees. Therefore, we tend to wear summer dresses years round here in the South. Hence the term "fall transition piece." This is code for, "You can throw a jacket on it with it and it looks fall-ish and you won't COMPLETELY melt."

Here at Grace Boutique we are getting several of these pieces!

Absolutely incredible. Those are the only words that come remotely close to how amazing our first day was here at Grace Boutique! We were super busy all day and had tremendous feedback on our Facebook page as well as in-store responses!

We got in a new shipment of accessories yesterday as well as some of our fall items! Here at Grace Boutique we're never short on ruffles, bling, lace or anything to make you feel girly and graceful!

Who Wears Short Shorts?!

We've all done it. Shorts, heels, and a cute top = a great going out outfit. You can do shorts with wedges and a casual top during the day, etc., etc., etc. The shorts/heels combo is an oldie but a goodie, and one of my favorites. Classy, yet spunky.

WELL...

Seeing as we are still in 107 degree heat here in East Texas, winter isn't coming ANY time soon, but the months will say so (Remember the 75 degree Christmas we had a few years ago anyone?). Shorts are carrying over into fall. Your favorite cut-offs and a light 3/4 sleeve cardigan and flat fall boots? Done and Done. If you're looking to grab your new pair in preparation for Fall/Winter may I suggest the "Trust Me" style by Chinese Laundry. I wear mine with EVERYTHING.

The shorts I recommend? Funny you should ask ;) we happen to have a fabulous pair at Grace Boutique featured on Megan here>>>>
Scalloped edges are VERY in this fall and spring. Kate Bosworth, Heidi (from The Hills), and even Sienna Miller (as photographed in the Aug. issue of Vogue) are grabbing themselves a pair as well! Here at Grace Boutique, we love all things girly, so of course we are LOVING this trend.

Happy shopping everyone! Live Gracefully <3

Just Keep Waiting

Have you ever said to yourself, "I really wish I had _____ accessory?" You know, what I am talking about. You just absolutely MUST HAVE that perfect shade of nude pumps, antique locket, high wasted skirt, funky pair of earrings, etc. etc. As women we all of this idea of what we absolutely MUST have.

My advice to you is this: never settle for the almost perfect pair of shoes, and further more, when you find them DO NOT pass them up. If you're like me, you may wait months on end for the perfect _____, and then when you find it you can talk yourself out of it, AND THEN you spend (fill in endless amount of time here) until you find it again.

I found a locket that was epically amazing in a store called Dress Shop in Austin, TX. It was vintage from Paris with a price tag to match. I have been on the hunt literally for YEARS for the perfect locket and I let it pass me by. I have regretted every day.

Sometimes you truly do deserve to reward yourself. It is the little accessories in life that not only make us happy, but make an outfit. So no matter the cost, splurge and don't think twice ;)

Photo Shoots and Construction!

Official Balloon Holder

My very first photo shoot experience and it was glorious!!! I mean. the waking up at 5:30 AM in order to catch the sunrise wasn't so fun, but the result was totally worth it! I used three girls that are friends and family to model. In other words, girls just like you, that will wear Grace Boutique clothing daily. After all, that's what its all about: finding the perfect outfit to wear during the day, everyday, and looking your absolute best!

,
My wonderful models and I!
The girls where so great and we had such a blast chugging coffee, blasting Maroon 5, and playing dress up all morning while Brittany McBrayer worked her magic behind the camera. We got some fabulous shots, so make sure and look for the "Sneak Peak: Grace Boutique" album on Facebook in the coming weeks!
The new carpet gets installed tomorrow! FINALLY! And if anyone knows how to hang racks for clothes onto masonite covered concrete walls please let me know :D mmmkthanks!

The Joys of Remodeling

Of course I wanted to change the wall color
Ta-Da!

Daisy Spell. That is the color I chose to paint the accent wall behind the register. Daisy Spell. I thought it sounded cute which is partyl why I picked the color, let's just be honest.
HOWEVER. Daisy Spell became my LEASE favorite color when the Paint guy at Lowe's forgot to put the lid on good, and I spilled a quart of it alllllll over myself and the middle of Lowe's. Riiiight in front of all the registers. Awesome.

I THEN proceeded to be locked out of the store for about 40 minutes covered in Daisy Spell. My locks are a bit persnickity. Alas, Chester came to my rescue and got the door open after throwing his body against it,. causing it magically open. Its a male thing, I'm convinced. I tried that same thing and nothing.

The flooring situation has been less than ideal. Partly beacause its a HUGE decision and I could not make up my mind for the life of me. Which therefore caused the floor guy, Joe to get just a tiiiiiiiiny bit frustrated with me :) It has kind of been a nightmare. I am proud to say the floors go in FRIDAY MORNING! As in THIS Friday! As in....TWO DAYS!
Part of the millions of hangers I have tied bows on

This is what Grace Boutique is all about...and the finished Daisy Spell  project

Its alllll coming together
It is all going to be worth it and can't show all of you the finished product! Make sure and mark it on your calenders to come shopping at Grace Boutique August 22!

The Search for the Perfect Decor

Decorating starts with a center piece. One specific piece of furntiture that sets the tone for the entire space. For me, it was this chair and the perfect chandelier.

My first experience at Canton was.....blistering hot? LOL July was NOT the best time to go. HOWEVER, Mom and I had a ton of fun and we came away with everything I was lacking for the store! The counter is being custom built as we speak, the chair is being moved in tomorrow, and the chandelier is being hung in the morning. This is officially permanent...I mean, hello...there are signs on the windows. No turning back. No fear. I've added a few more pictures to give you sneak peak of what the shop will look like; more to come tomorrow evening!

This whole experience has been such a blessing. God is constantly showing me how blessed I am. Isiah 43:1-4 (thanks to Mama for showing this to me.) Go look it up. I hope it gives you the strength to look ahead the next time you're stressed.

Check That Off the List...

Painting. I loathe painting. However, in order to save money, I thought I would paint alllllll 1,200 sq. feet of the store. Myself.

Stupid idea.

About halfway through taping the first room, I decided I needed to call in the calvary. SOOO...a HUGE thank you to Jody Wyers for sending three of his professional painting crew members to my rescue this morning. I love have best friends with parents who have jobs that can help in times like these! (cough cough, *jessica* cough)

SO. The building is painted at long last. Completed in ONE DAY as opposed to the WEEK it would have taken me. I've gotta say, it looks amazing. Now all we need is the ugly green carpet to be ripped up and replaced with hardwood and we will be well on our way!

My first clothing order shipped today ;) and so it begins....

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

The decorating ball is officially off and rolling. Well it rolls, then stops when I have to make a decision. For example: The walls will be gray, but which color gray?! Did you know HOW MANY different shades of gray there are at Lowe's?! It is absolutely mind boggling. Which color hard wood floor would I like to have installed, what color should I paint the door, what do I want the signs to look like...the list goes on and on...and on.....and on and on and on.....you get it.

I placed the first order of clothes today!!!!! Some will arrive this month, some in July, and some in August. It feels so real! I am fairly certain I will continue to say that throughout this entire process. I also believe I will mean it more and more each time! I start the painting process in the morning! More pictures coming soon!
